As Library Commissioner, I plan to support funding that will:
Encourage engagement with books and resources to drive literacy and reading comprehension
Foster community building to allow for the exchange of ideas and make the library feel like a home for all
Support our library staff so that they may continue to use their experience and expertise to serve the Grand Rapids community
About me
I’ve lived in Grand Rapids for 20 years, dedicating my career to building community and fostering safe, inclusive spaces around books. As the former General Manager of Books & Mortar, located in the East Hills neighborhood of Grand Rapids, I spearheaded multi-genre book clubs, arranged author readings and events, and built strong relationships with neighborhood organizations and local businesses.
As an avid reader and passionate supporter of accessible public spaces, I am excited to bring my experience in literary programming, community outreach, and space cultivation to the Grand Rapids Public Library Board.
